Hi, did you check for spark out of the coil? It's also possible you may have gotten the timing alignment off or out of whack with the distributor.
A few years back I replaced the busted timing set on my Trooper 2.8 LS (now a 3.4) and afterwards I did a comprehensive writeup on the job while it was still fresh in my head.
I could e-mail you a copy of the writeup so you can "compare notes" to what you did on yours; maybe it'll bring up a solution.
