Picked this up a while ago. Finally got the urge to get it running after my friend got an rc land cruiser and I needed something to do while my 4j parts slowly trickle in.
Bought it used off ebay and what a mistake that was. Who doesn't lock the rear diff in a crawler? He also put it together terribly somehow.

Not sure how you can mess up clearing up flash other than sheer laziness. The whole roof bows up. So the first thing was to trim it all up so it fits flush. The metallic paint got pretty scuffed with box rub during shipping from lazy packaging. But I was planning to paint it amigo teal eventually.

Showed up with less parts than the kit originally shipped with. I know it was less money than new but come on man.
Before and after mounting all the hardware.
I've never messed with one of these before so I really have no idea what I'm doing lol

And finally I took off the front bumper guard. It serves a purpose but it's ugly.
The car came with bigger tires than stock and I'll have to trim the fenders a little so they clear at full lock.
Still waiting on a few more pieces to come in(mainly the motor) but it should be ready to run soon.
Its Mirrors are still in yhe box for now

Interesting. Would like to see a follow-up to this to see its destiny. I do know from previous experience that the rust shown on the roof can only be permanently repaired by cutting out the bad section and welding in a new section. Anything short of that it will only return in time. Where did you ever find that video.

It got moved to the yard after a few months, then I picked it's interior clean. I almost got heat stroke on that day picking parts off it. I left a couple of things behind due to the heat fatigue, including its headlight buckets :(
It's long since been crushed.
I did a search on youtube for isuzu troopers and sorted by most recent to see if there was any new interesting content since the last time I looked and it popped up.

well it has seen better days, but now I wait for this to arrive in a container from japan in a month or two.
Cost me a whopping $61.52, plus $300 to ship it.
Once it arrives ill probably just take the guard off and drill holes if needed in my current bumper rather than try and clean up the one it is on at the moment.
As far as I can tell that rusty riser is just for mounting lights, which I can either fab one up using some square tubing or just drill holes to mount lights straight to the bumper.

yes sir, the company I'm shipping it through has their warehouse 2 hours from me so Ill save hundreds just driving out there and getting it once they unpack the container.
I got another quote to ship it for about $800 and would have arrived a lot faster, but Im not in any rush.

Got the trooper specific used items sorted.
As well as some ultra used headlight guards I'll be cleaning up.
Also sorted an upgraded radiator that matches the diesel inlet/outlets. Waiting to hear back from the vendor to see if they'll sell me an uncut fan shroud so I can mount my Taurus fan on it.
Still trying to sort out which diesel fuel filter base I want to use.
The seller tossed in the old master cylinder for me to use as a mockup. Might go with something aftermarket instead for parts longevity.

Someone REALLY wanted to reset that mileage but alas, it's broken. I'll be using the one in my truck for multiple obvious reasons lol
