After I bought `98 3,5L Trooper, it had problem with reverse gear - it was engaging on high revs only. All other gears worked like a charm.
Changer the oil+filter. It seemed to make a situation a bit better, since the oil after change became looking not so new after 100-200kms.

One day all front gear dissapeared, but reverse began to work perfectly. Nevertheless, it seems that on neutral car wants to move backwards as well. On D123L it stands stil and kills the engine on higher revs.
I cleaned and checked the range sensor with tester and it seems to be ok - it gives the right signals.

What else could cause the issue? Help, please

Reverse and L (Manual 1st gear) are selected without using the shift solenoids, If Reverse works OK but L (Manual 1st gear) feels like Neutral there may a problem involving the reaction drum Brake Band. If the truck will accelerate in D with Winter Mode selected that would strongly suggest a Brake Band problem.

There`s no difference if it is in winter mode or not. D32L does not engage, on N it wants to move backwards

DOT3 is brake fluid, the 4L30e uses any ATF that meets the GM Dexron III specification like Castrol Transmax Import Mult-Vehicle

It was dextron3, not dot3, my bad 🙂
