I wanted to see what it was like with the amount I removed from the doors so I bolted em up and gave it a go around the block a few time.

So I have never been in a vehicle without doors or anything similar. I love it and I'm sold.

I wanted to keep my factory pocket, light, and the speaker cover. I trimmed the old panel down and I'll be putting a 6x9 in the door. I figure with the extra wind I'll need a bigger speaker then the 5 1/4 that comes factory.

I trimmed the edges with aluminum angle.

I have a buddy that can weld aluminum so I'm gonna have him fill in my cuts and the corners so It'll be smooth.

The aluminum added a bit of rigidity to the panels without adding to much weight.

I want to get some 1/4" abs strips and heat mold them onto the aluminum and then rivet or bolt it down to cover the opening.

Once I get the edges welded up I'll see about getting the door painted to match. I thought about just painting it black bed liner myself but I know that'll bug me being that mismatched. It shouldn't be too expensive to get the doors painted.

I picked up a Trooper front axle with 4.56 gears the other day. I plan on getting my power brute finally installed. I'm gonna be deleting my SOTF and going with locking hubs and a manual transfer case. Can I attach the new CV axles from a 98-00 Amigo/Rodeo to the inner axle/cv cup housing of a early model Isuzu that didn't have a SOTF?

I think the cv's on the later model are a little smaller , but , if the axles are the same spline all you'd need to do is r&r the cv's and done deal !!

I don't think the spline count changed ...

I asked this same question to jerry, I have the same axle on my 98, and I have a spare 90 trooper axle. from flange to flange they are different lengths. so not an easy swap. The power brute is an LSD, I looked for one and could never find one. I ended up going with the Aussie up front. Are you going to 4.56 gears, that what I'm doing also. I think Jerry said he still had another set of 4.56s in the box for our D44.

Your rig looks pretty sweet.

I may have to PM Jerry about those rear gears. I found the power brute a couple years ago new in the box and have been sitting on it for a while now.

I finally got my new rack and pinion in. I am waiting on getting the front diff set up and then I'll get it all bolted back together up front. I'm just gonna leave the drive shaft off until I get my rear end gears done. I'm pretty sure 4.56 up front and 4.10 in the rear will jack something up if I go into 4x4 :p .

You can always just engage it and then run a bolt in the sensor hole, it will lock it in place. Was a post on the 4x4wire page along time ago. Did it to my amigo for awhile till I got the vsv straightend out.

I'll have to check that out. If I can just rig up the SOTF to just stay engaged then I can keep the 98-00 CV axles. I should have my diff done in the next week or so. I still need to order my hubs and get some older 4x4 spindle/hub from a junk yard. Prob call around and get those tomorrow.

or just keep the SOTF and still convert to manual hubs, it isn't that big of a liability and works well.

My bearing and seals came in for my front diff so I'll be dropping that off Monday to the shop hopefully. I wish I would have know Joe makes a bent rear upper link for my Isuzu. I went ahead and ordered that too. I wish I'd have know that a couple months ago when I dropped my tank and redid my fuel pump. It would have been super easy to put in with no tank in the way. Oh well, that's the way stuff happens.

You don't need to drop the tank completely. Remove the two rear support bolts and the two that go through the driver's side frame rail, leave the two on the front in place, then simply lower the rear of the tank down far enough to access the link bolt. You should be able to swap links in about 30 minutes using this method.

OK, that sounds simply and easy enough. I'll get that in when I get it. I played around jacking up the rear of the truck and the tank side has a hair over an inch less down travel then the other side. Not sure how much an inch matters, but I like the idea of not slamming my upper link into my tank so the extra inch is just a bonus.

I can tell you that the 4.56 feels great with 32s. It feels better and I was coming from 4.30s. I mean the locker front and back feel abit different but the power is great. Hope your shop doesn't charge too much. I was quoted over $500 to do the front so I did it myself.

Well I had no luck getting some 4.56 gears from Jerry. He's all out. I'll prob end up getting the rear set from Indy4x unless I find somewhere else. I have a week to play around searching.

In the mean time. Any one have a good source for the master rebuild kit for the rear?

I got my front diff back from the shop, and I totally forgot to snap a pic of the Power Brute installed in it :x . Just got it bolted into the housing and all sealed up. I'm cleaning and prepping it to paint right now. I figure that it'll be easier to do that now while it's on my table. I plan to have it back in the Isuzu this weekend. Just won't be able to use 4wd until I get the rear done.
