2001 Rodeo Sport 4wd Starter

So my rodeo was sitting all winter and I went to go drive it one day, battery was dead had to jump it. It started up fine but ended up deciding to not go where I was planning on going so turned it off fairly quickly.

Went to go drive it again about a month after this and jumped it, starter no cranking or anything. Single feint click from fuse box when it's being jumped.

It currently has the ignition bypass where I just push a button to crank the starter after turning the key, it was like this when I got it.

Looking into how the starter is replaced it isn't really something that is easy to do especially where it is parked on grass and I am not the most experienced mechanic just do basic things. Even the motor mount method still seems difficult to get it out without disassembling.

Is there any other things I can try to narrow down why it isn't working prior to just assuming starter and replacing it? I tried tapping on it while somebody turned it over already. And if it is the starter what would be the best technique to get it out? Every post seems to have a different solution and some may or may not work on some model years and I wasn't able to find any for this exact body style.

I got mine replaced by a shop last year because it was going to be a b*tch to do on the sidewalk. For the 4wds the exhaust and frame rails are in the way if I remember correctly. You basically have 4 options. 1. Drop the exhaust 2. Jack up the engine 3. Unbolt the starter, disassemble it between the frame rails, take it out, then repeat to get the new starter in 4. If you have a body lift, you should be able to just unbolt and pull it out.

If the P.O was playing around with wires under the hood they may have hooked up something poorly and it fell loose, I know I'm guilty of that on my own rig. I'd start by looking at the electrical hookups.
Also, if the battery is super dead, then sometimes it just takes some charge time before it will start up. Sometimes you have to let the other vehicle charge up your battery.
True, I had a roommate who let his pos civic sit for 6 months after he got a new rig. Had to charge it for almost 40 minutes before it would crank

I just took the battery off a charger to make sure it was full and same result unfortunately :(

What exactly does dropping the exhaust entail? I'm not home to get underneath and investigate at the moment but how much needs to be undone? Also with jacking up the engine I saw a few things say even doing this there wasn't enough room without a body lift. This seems like the simplest option if it comes right out, just getting the motor mount off and lifting it up by the pan.

The problem with removing the exhaust is the nuts holding the exhaust pipe flanges to the exhaust manifold studs are usually rusted and very difficult to remove. If you break off a stud you have a big problem. Imho disconnecting the LH motor mount and jacking up the engine a little to gain clearance is the better method.
