What I found with my 2002 is the factory shocks were WAY too soft. The front suspension would easily bang against it's bump stops on light to medium bumps. The truck would hop & wander all over the road on washboard surfaces and would nose-dive on hard stops. When I pulled the factory shocks, I couldn't beleive how cheap, flimsy and skinny they were. You could easily compress them by hand & the fronts had already started to weep some oil  . I changed them out at 15Kmi !!! Swapping out your shocks will make a world of difference. I put monroe sensa-tracs on mine. Zero being the softest & 10 being stiffest ride, I'd say the sensa-tracs give about a 6. If you want firmer, I'd go with rancho 9000's.
G/luck
