I am about to put my 2.6l back together with a new head gasket. I have the Isuzu shop manual and did not see anything about using any gasket adhesive on the head gasket. What is the general opinion on this - dry or not?

Any other reassembly tricks or pointers would also be much welcomed.

The general rule seems to be to put it together dry. I did not know that rule 6 years ago and used that spray on copper head gasket adhesive. Have not had any trouble since, but I'm not looking forward to ever taking it apart again. Cleaning that stuff off of the aluminum head without causing any damage is going to be a PITA.

The head is designed to float on the block, head pins/dowels & a dry gasket are the facilitators of head float.

That said, I have yet to hear of a failure due to use of gasket adhesive. I personally won't try it though lol.

I wish someone made M.L.S. gaskets for us.
