Nope, that's a "weep hole" to indicate a leaky shaft seal. Sounds like that pump is shot, was it a used one?
1990 w/2.8l v6 - water pump replacement
Replaced the water pump in the trooper. As the last step, I filled the system with water. Noticed water leaking in a steady flow. Looking closer, there is a small hole on the bottom of the pump housing that appears to be threaded. Is a set screw supposed to be here?
Thought I would ask before putting in set screw (possible blown head gasket later???)
