Hello all!
I just picked up a 1990 Trooper 4WD with the 2.6L Engine. The previous owner thought it might need a new engine because the anti-freeze was still mixed for the Mexican climate it was in before and not North America. I put a new battery in it yesterday and put water in the radiator. Found where a freeze plug had blown out but we did get it to turn over and run for a few seconds (just to see if it would). I'm hopeful that the plug saved the block from cracking and that I will get it running after I install a new plug. The Trooper has 205k miles on it, do y'all have any suggestions on where to begin to get it running "reliably"? I also wanted to know if anyone has removed the rain channels around the roof of theirs? That is where I have found the worst of what rust there is. I look forward to hear from you and sharing in the adventure! I would post photos but google photo links aren't working...
