1.9 vs 2.2 DSL engines

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the 1.9 and 2.2 DSLs? I have two motors and I'm not sure which they are and need some help identifying them. Thank you.

Well, there's no 1.9 that I'm aware of. The 4FB1 was 1.8L.

Besides the casting on the block, which itself it pretty conclusive --
The 1.8L is an OHC engine, with intake on one side, exhaust on the other.
The 2.2L (C223) is an overhead valve (pushrod) engine, with both intake and exhaust on the same side.

I found the casting mark on the side of the engine. The one I just acquired is a c223. I haven't made it to look at the other at my shop. The 1.9 is a diesel. The c223 that I just got is a diesel also. I'll post an update as soon as I can.
Is the 1.9 diesel you are talking about a C190? Those were never sold in any US passenger vehicles so it is likely a utility engine of some sort.

Of course it is. All C223s are diesels.

That is what I was talking about. I was lead to believe they were put in the earlier luvs.
Upon closer inspection they are both c223s. Thank you all for the help.

Glad you already found out that both are C223

C190 (found in LUV, Isuzu Faster and Isuzu Florian) use inline type injector pump and use valve to close the air intake to shut down the motor.
C190 revs higher than C223 but less torque
