Hi. Back again. I have the '01 Trooper which I thought the transmission was slipping. I changed the range sensor and it didn't cure the problem. I noticed that in lower temperatures the transmission does not want to shift. What could be the problem? Has anyone experienced this? Would it be a sensor problem? Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

If you really mean that the transmission holds each gear in a higher RPM before shifting to the next gear, that is normal. The transmision holds each gear longer when the fluid is cold to warm it faster.

The 4L30E wont lock the torque converter until the ATF (or coolant) temp warms. I think if it's real cold, they may not shift into 4th/OD as well. When your 2001 acts up, do the PRND321 lights on the dash act normal? If they flicker, randomly go thru the gears or go out, your TRS is still messed up.
